SHAPING THE CULTURE
2022-2023, installation consisting of six elements, oil on canvas and oil on canvas on battens:
on wall:
Aedicule 100x70 cm;
on the floor, from left to right:
Tombino 60x60 cm (h30 cm),
Small column (4x) 35x35 cm (h150 cm),
Large column (4x) 60x60 cm (h200 cm),
Bollard (8x) 80x20 cm (h160 cm)
Cone (5x) 60x60 cm (h65)

SHAPING THE CULTURE is an installation composed of paintings. A three-dimensional environment representing both classical architectural elements and everyday industrial objects, visually connected by a stylised graphic-pictorial form, which simplifies the three-dimensionality of the model into a development of monochrome planes and backgrounds. The result of this manipulation is a hybrid between a scenography and a scaffolding, which explicitly provokes a dialogue between the decoration and the device: from the frame to the manhole, from the column to the traffic cone. In this way, both the pictorial autonomy and the object functionality of the elements represented are plundered, and in their aesthetic reuse, reduced to spoils of the author’s subjective and arbitrary imagination. The construction of this rhetorical device, finally, would like to stimulate a reflection on the historical discrimination of colour, decoration and texture, relegated to the margins by modernity as superfluous parts of an idyllically neutral device such as the frame. That is, the work focuses on the relationship between practice and theory, between practice and project.
